What Is the Letter of Good Standing (LOGS)?
A Letter of Good Standing is an official document issued by the Compensation Fund (under the Department of Employment and Labour), confirming that your business is fully compliant with COIDA — the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act.
It’s required when:
- Applying for tenders or government contracts
- Renewing supplier database profiles
- Proving compliance for construction or labour-intensive work
New Expiry Date: 30 June 2025
Many businesses were originally expecting their Letters of Good Standing to expire on 30 April 2025. However, two critical extensions were announced:
- 🗓️ First extension: to 31 May 2025
- 🗓️ Final extension: to 30 June 2025 (as per Government Gazette No. 52722, Notice 3227 dated 23 May 2025)
This means your 2023-issued LOGS certificate is valid until 30 June 2025 — giving businesses additional time to complete their Return of Earnings (ROE) and renew for the 2024 assessment period.
What Should You Do Next?
- Check your LOGS expiry date
Ensure your certificate reflects the new 30 June 2025 extension. - Submit your Return of Earnings (ROE) for 2024
- Assessment Year: 1 March 2024 – 28 Feb 2025
- Submission Deadline: 31 July 2025
- Settle your COIDA payment
After submitting ROE, the Department will issue an invoice. Once paid, you can request a new LOGS valid for the current year.
